Two facets of human sensory perception underly the concept of the pavilion:

The human body you can process 16 bits per second in the form of reflected perception, but in the form of bodily senses, however, we can process 500 000 000 bits per second.

‘breathe.austria‘s’ exhibition concept aims largely at creating a sensual mediation and direct experience. Austria and its values become anchored in the subconscious mind of the visitors and are transformed into sensorial experiences.

Österreich mit erweiterten Sinnen wahrnehmen

Zwei physionomische Grundkenntnisse der menschlichen Sinneswahrnehmung liegen dem Pavillon-Konzept zugrunde. In Form von reflektierter Wahrnehmung kann der menschliche Körper 16 Bits pro Sekunde verarbeiten (Ratio). Über die körperlichen Sinne hingegen werden 500 000 000 Bits pro Sekunde verarbeitet (Erleben). DAs Ausstelungskonzept von BREATHE.AUSTRIA zielt großteils auf sinnliche Vermittlung bzw. unmittelbares ErlebenVermittlung ab.

Österreich und seine Werte gelangen damit direkt in das Unterbewusstsein der BesucherInnen und werden ihrer sensorischen Erfahrungen.

Not only is Austria’s air quality very high by world standards and one of the countries most important characteristics, but air, climate and atmosphere connect also the entire planet. They are considered nutrients, information carriers, energy producers and resources.

The Austrian pavillion ‚breathe‘ presents not only the natural and technical expertise of the country, but is also devoted to addressing future problems in dealing with these important raw materials. The Austrian forest planted at the Expo site acts as a sensual air and climate experience in a former industrial area in north-west Milan.

In the center of the pavilion there is a 560 m2 large forest vegetation area, which merges architecture, nature, culture and research into a sensual experience and produces an intense forest climate which generates clean, oxygen-rich air.

Mit ‘breathe’ präsentiert sich Österreich mit einem pointierten Beitrag zum Leitthema „Feeding the Planet, Energy for life“ der Expo Milano 2015. ‘breathe’ rückt das Nahrungsmittel No 1 und eine der wichtigsten Ressource in das Zentrum der internationalen Aufmerksamkeit: LUFT.

Luft ist nicht nur eines der bedeutendsten Qualitätsmerkmale Österreichs und im weltweiten Vergleich sehr hoch. Luft, Klima und Atmosphäre verbinden vielmehr die gesamte Erde. Sie gelten als Lebensmittel, Informationsträger, Energieproduzent und Ressource. Der Österreich Pavillon stellt mit seinem Beitrag breathe die natürliche wie technische Kompetenz des Landes in den Fokus und widmet sich zugleich künftigen Fragestellungen im Umgang mit dem wichtigen Rohstoff. Ein österreichischer Wald gepflanzt am Expo-Gelände setzt Luft und Klima ein sinnlich erlebbares Zeichen im ehemaligen Industrieviertel im Nordwesten von Mailand.

Im Zentrum des Pavillons, der Architektur, Natur, Kultur und Forschung zu einem sinnlichen Erlebnis verschmiltzt, steht ein 560 m2 großes Waldstück, das technologisch unterstützt ein intensives Waldklima generiert und frische, saubere und sauerstoffreiche Luft erzeugt.
